Peer Advising

Peer Advisors complement the Data Science Advising services by sharing their diverse knowledge of and experiences with major courses, different Data Science Major domain emphases, extracurriculars and student groups on campus, research opportunities, and various campus resources.

SUMMER 2021: Peer Advisors are unavailable for drop-in advising for the Summer 2021 semester. They will be back and available to peers in early Fall 2021.

Hi, I’m Ananya, a third year majoring in Data Science with a concentration in Applied Mathematics and Modeling and a minor in South/Southeast Asian studies. I originally came to Berkeley intending to be an Applied Math major, but as I took more math classes and Data 8, I realized Data Science was a more fitting major for me. If you don’t catch me on campus, I’m usually working out, watching YouTube videos, or eating Sliver! I also try to stay involved with the greater Berkeley area through community service. I’ve had my fair share of battles with courses and beyond, so if you ever need any advice, whether for your courses or not, feel free to drop by during my advising hours!

Hi! My name is Jasmine, and I am a junior double majoring in Data Science and Psychology. I originally applied to college as an applied math major. Heading into college, I was set on a combination of psychology and math, so I decided on pursuing Data Science with a domain emphasis in cognition. I am very interested in fields that involve both my majors, such as people analytics and user research, and plan to pursue a career in one of these fields. During my free time, I enjoy listening to K-pop, watching Korean dramas, reading, dancing, and having fun! I am so excited to be a Data Science Peer Advisor again this semester. If you ever need any advice with anything regarding data science or even life, please come to my advising hours, and I’d love to chat with you!

Hi, I’m Jenna and I’m a junior studying Data Science. I became interested in Data Science when I learned about it on Cal Day and I decided to major in it after really enjoying Data 8. I was born in Korea but raised in the Bay, and in my spare time I like playing the piano, taking care of houseplants, and watching Korean dramas. There can be a lot of questions or concerns that can come up while navigating through the Data Science major so I’m excited to be a peer advisor this semester! If you have any concerns with choosing classes, declaring the major or minor, or anything else, feel free to drop by and I’d love to help!
