"Radial diffusion" is one of the main processes for acceleration in the Earth's radiation belts, a region where electrons can reach almost the speed of light. A time series that quantifies the magnitude of this process exists for the years 1995–2019.

In parallel, various different indices exist to characterize conditions in geospace, and some indices present some correlations with the time series for radial diffusion.

The objective of this project is to determine if the time series for radial diffusion can be modeled using several of the indices for geomagnetic activity. The resulting model could be of use for space weather research by contributing to improve radiation belt modeling and forecast.
