UC Berkeley data sciences is a regular collaborator with West Big Data Innovation Hub, one of four regional hubs that the National Science Foundation has established across the US to cultivate multi-sector collaborations among academia, industry, and government.
Hub activities are designed to accelerate progress towards addressing societal challenges, enable access to and use of important and valuable available data assets, and foster a national big data ecosystem.
West Big Data Hub's areas of focus include:
- Metro/Urban Data Science, including Smart Cities
- Open Science
- Precision Medicine
- Natural Resources & Hazards
Our work together has included data collaborations focused on addressing water safety and disaster response and workshops on data science pedagogy.
