At UC Berkeley, the Berkeley Institute for Data Science (BIDS), the Data Science Discovery program and the Graduate School of Journalism are working with the California Reporting Project to help develop and automate a statewide database of police misconduct records that can be easily accessed by news organizations and the general public. The University of California’s Office of the President reviewed the division’s pre-proposal, clearing the way for CDSS to revise and seek review of a final proposal laying out its detailed vision and plan for the school. If that is approved, CDSS would be the first new college at Berkeley in more than 50 years.
