Faculty Community

faculty community

Scores of faculty from schools, colleges, and institutes across campus contribute to data science education at Berkeley. Here are some of the many ways in which faculty are shaping and advancing data science research and education opportunities for undergraduates and graduates:

Advisory boards and committees - From the start, faculty have played a key role in defining UC Berkeley's approach to data science by serving on committees and boards convened to help guide and inform the process, from the Faculty Advisory Board (FAB) of the Data Science Planning Initiative to the Division of Data Science Degree Program Governance Council.

Instruction - From Foundations of Data Science to modules, connectors, and data-enabled courses, in any given semester, dozens of faculty are offering courses that enrich the depth and breath of data science education at Berkeley. Many of these faculty have participated in Pedagogy Workshops to develop ideas, understanding, and tools to include elements of  data science in their courses.

Research - Across campus, research centers such as D-Lab and the Berkeley Institute for Data Science (BIDS) drive data science research and innovation.
