The Spring 2022 Data Science BA Commencement Ceremony 

will be held on Wednesday, May 18, 2022

at the Hearst Greek Theatre

at 7:00pm Pacific Daylight Time

This ceremony honors students graduating with a Bachelor of Arts in Data Science in Fall 2021, Spring 2022, Summer 2022 or Fall 2022.

Graduates should plan to arrive by 6:00pm to line up. The ceremony will begin promptly at 7:00pm.

Doors will also open for guests at 6:00pm.

How to Participate

Registration

Data Science majors who have (or will be) completing all coursework with an expected graduation term (EGT) of Fall 2021, Spring 2022, Summer 2022 or Fall 2022 are invited to participate in the Data Science BA Commencement ceremony. Unfortunately, we cannot include Data Science minors in the ceremony.

The deadline to register for the Spring 2022 Data Science BA Commencement ceremony has now passed.

All graduates should arrive by 6pm at the South entrance of the Greek Theatre, dressed in your cap and gown, with a printed Marching Order GradPass (search your email for "GradPass").

Guest  Information

Tickets: Tickets can be purchased from the Cal Performances Ticket Office will sell additional online via the tickets.berkeley.edu website, over the phone at 510-642-9988, and at the Ticket Office at Zellerbach Hall (Tues-Fri, 12pm-5:30pm; Sat-Sun, 1pm-5pm). Any tickets purchased online, by phone, or in-person will be delivered by email only. Tickets will not be available for pickup at the Ticket Office or mailed.

All guests of any age, including infants, must have a ticket. Seating is not assigned and is first come, first served. The gates will open for guests at 6pm.

Ticket Limits: Due to the size of our ceremony and seating capacity at the Greek, we will limit Box Office purchases to no more than 8 tickets (in addition to your 2 free/complimentary tickets). If you need more than 10 total tickets or have extra tickets, please post here.

The ceremony will be live streamed and available to view online.

FAQs

Graduation regalia and other accessories can be purchased from the Cal Student Store.

Plan to arrive at the Hearst Greek Theatre NO LATER THAN 6:00PM. Please plan appropriate time for parking and walking to the venue. You should be in the Theatre at 6:00pm to begin lining up with your classmates.

GradImages will be photographing the ceremony.

In the week following the ceremony, proof order forms will be mailed to all graduates for viewing. You will also be able to view their proofs and place orders by visiting the GradImageswebsite.

What about Honors cords?

Students in the Data Science Honors Program will be individually contacted about receiving an honors cord to wear during the ceremony.

Diplomas are mailed by the Registrar's Office approximately four months after the end of a student’s graduating term. More information on diplomas, graduation verification, etc. can be found on the College of Letters & Science website here and the Office of the Registrar website here.

If you require an accommodation for effective communication (ASL interpreting/CART captioning, alternative media formats, etc.) or information about campus mobility access features in order to fully participate in this event, you will be able to submit this request in Marching Order when you register for the ceremony.

You can also contact Marjorie Ensor at ensor@berkeley.edu with as much advance notice as possible and at least 10 business days in advance of the event.

Graduates who are participating in the ceremony and wearing regalia do not need a ticket. Everyone else entering the Greek Theatre needs a ticket, regardless of age (including children and infants).

For the comfort and safety of everyone, please do not bring in the following items: strollers, large backpacks, large blankets, structured stadium chairs, tobacco products, alcohol, cans, bottles, ice chests, picnic baskets, lawn furniture, weapons of any kind, umbrellas, pets, hula hoops, musical instruments, laser pointers, bicycles, and skateboards.
